    Dear Organizations,

 

Let me get right to the bottom line.  My many years in the venture capital world taught me quickly in the game of life that people and the Organization Culture are the roots of the success or failure of any team, department, or company.  Culture is what allows a good idea to happen, or prevents a good idea from happening.  Money only makes what the culture is about… happen faster.

Day-to-Day Operations


For some organizations there is an even flow between leadership and subordinates.  Leaders define the direction and subordinates determine how to achieve the defined objectives.
 

However, for other organizations, day-to-day activities are like herding cats!  If you attempt to correct an individual's poor attitude or inconsistent work habits, labor disputes  leave the company being held responsible for the individual's personal problems.   
 

Additionally for many organizations, implementing new and proven management programs like Kaizen, LEAN, Deming, and others often hold promise of greater effectiveness and efficiency, but the path to implementation is filled with resistance and often defiance, even from their most loyal workers.   

Even worse, many organizations experience problems when change is proposed.  Even a once cohesive team of people can become resistant to change.  Power struggles rise up and goals are not met.
 

When management tries to confront and force change, it is met with defiance or it simply goes underground, and the once cohesive team falls apart as though it never existed.  For most people change is difficult, if not seemingly impossible. Even for the best of teams and individuals, change is a challenge.
 

The bottom line is if change is not implemented, the organization will be left behind by new emerging organizations with new ideas and new teams of people, who will ultimately experience the same problem of change.
 

Tools For Change In A Changing World
